I feel honor to be invited to write a message for the CLD website. I thank the CLD Board
for their confidence and trust in appointing me as the working committee chairperson.
There are many opportunities for Leos to accept leadership positions within a Leo club.
Leaders are not born, but are developed through learning and experience. It is our
purpose that the education and training in the CLD Education program provide our Leos
knowledge and improve their leadership abilities.
The CLD Orientation and Part 1 Subjects (Leadership, Experience and Opportunity) have
been participated by more than 5000 Leos since it was started. The Part 2 Subjects is
scheduled to begin in September 2008. Three subjects will be offered this fiscal year:
Environment, Health and Social Services. It will be a six-month course. Leos who have
passed the L, E, O assessments can apply to take up these subjects. These subjects
were planned for our Leos to acquire service skills stated in the Leo Motto:
Leadership - develop skills as organizers, time managers and motivators of their peers.
Experience - learn the importance of cooperation through community service.
Opportunity - Membership provides young people with a chance to excel, to develop
positive character traits, and to receive recognition for their contributions to the community.
I hope all the Leos value this opportunity and participate actively in the CLD program. It is
one of my goals during this fiscal year that all Leo Clubs in the District will have at least
one participation in the CLD program.
